allow data connections on device when connected to PC

a friend of mine has the stock Tp2 6.1 (sprint) with the TP2 cleanup cab installed.. when connected to an XP PRO machine with ACTIVE SYNC 4.5, he can not get a data connection to use any apps unless he unplugs the USB cable. We checked and "allow data connections on device when connected to PC" is checked but it doesnt do anything. On my TP2, which is using mightyrom, it does not matter if I have that option on the PC checked or unchecked as I can still get a data connection..

Any ideas??

Try this, check the box, restart active sync and plug in the phone. Send the phone a text message. The try usind an app that requires data transmission. If I am correct not all data tranmissions are allowed on stock ROM.

was able to receive text message.. BUT WUNDERRADIO says "can not play URL" which it did before.. Opera can not browse the internet either.. Nice to have a mightyrom that does all of this on MY PHONE.. what was changed on mighty to allow this (maybe I should ask in the MR thread)?
