help! weird problem with VZW TP2 6.5

wow! i am so confused! my phone has been running so smoothly for the entire week (upgraded to 6.5 last weekend) and all of the sudden, this morning, a really wierd problem pops up..

when i boot my phone up, it starts to load my WM6.5 today screen but then it freezes for about 2 minutes with "messaging" on the task bar upper left and "delete" and "menu" on the lower buttons. there is an "x" in the upper right where the task manager should be. then it fully boots with my today screen showing thru, but all the messaging tags. i can either hit the "x" or i can tap any of the icons on my today screen - they all work... WTF?
