Fix for TP2 EMS?

I guess I can't post links: not sure if this works but topic 59785 and topic 95782, the 2nd one seems to say the fix for the TP does not work on the TP2. I can get messages longer than 160 characters but they are broken up into pieces, and get the media objects removed and whoever sends it gets the plain text thing...is there anyway to fix this yet? The tp2 thread was pretty dated.
