Operator ID on home screen

I would like to know if there is a way to show the network name while roaming.

I am using a Sprint TP2 w/Sprint Standard Rom and when I am within the Sprint Network I see their name on the left side above the clock. When I roam on Verizon or Alltel, I am not able to see any operator name.

I know GSM networks display the foreign network name and I am not sure if this is even possible on CDMA networks.

Would be great to have the network identified especially when traveling short distance to Mexico.

I have never heard of anything to do that.

Re: Operator ID on home screen

The reason why I would like to know which network I am currently roam on is simple: Sprint offers free Roaming on U.S. networks and if you travel along the border with Mexico, some areas might have a stronger signal than Verizon when Sprint is unavailable. Roaming in Mexico off-course costs money and I could prevent this from the operator name on the display while roaming.

Especially on I-8 along the U.S. - Mexico border you can get stung or loose coverage if you chose to go with Sprint only.
