Re: Fix/Workaround for 2016 Issue

THANKS!

Without seeing this full post, I was seeing links to your regedit cab - but was concerned about restoring the thread since 1/1/10 at midnight and installing...and didn't want to have to delete the existing 1/1/16 texts.
I also want to be able to apply the 'proper authorized fix' that uses the server time (since my phone being off would throw off any real idea of when the text was actually sent) - but for now, at least proper date and threading resumes with your well explained work!

After a confusing mis-threaded text fight with an ex, I got frustrated and gave it some thought - basically coming up with what I think you're suggesting, except using SKTOOLS.

Excuse the intrusion but for the sake of any potential help, here's what I did:

1. Used SKTOOLS Pim Information tool to export SMS as XML
2. Applied Ziggy's 2010 cab fix (which I believed applies one or more REG entries like above.
3. Copied XML from step one and renamed as TXT, opening in NOTEPAD
4. Used Find/Replace to replace /2016 with /2010 and saved, renaming to XML
5. Copied back to phone.
6. Using SKTOOLS Pim Information tool, checked off and deleted the entire SMS contents.
7. Using same tool, IMPORTED the XML file that I just copied over.
8. Soft Reset - and after some time (depending on number of SMS - threading went back to normal operation)
9. New SMS arrives in TouchFlo properly threaded, with "phone time/date" instead of server.

I suppose this will do until a real fix comes from above
YMMV

Re: Fix/Workaround for 2016 Issue

This fixed the date - it now shows 2010, but for messages received yesterday, it only shows the date. No time, or day of the week, etc... Messages received today show only the time. Is this normal?

Did you export the messages and fix the date? You can either use the write up I have in post 1 or what ShowYouHow posted above you in post #154.

Re: Fix/Workaround for 2016 Issue

Are you talking about TouchFlo front end?

I'm pretty sure it's standard to show "Today" and "Yesterday" for recent messages.
I just think we got baffled by the 1/1/16 - and got used to seeing the date on new messages.
It's too early in the morning to be sure.

Thanks, forgot about that one, it will only show Today and Yesterday, haven't had enough coffee yet.

Re: Fix/Workaround for 2016 Issue

I just flashed the rom yesterday, and di not restore old messages (as usual). These are all new messages I received (after the cab install from post 1).

Yesterdays post says "01/02/2010"

Today's posts say "7:10AM" (only the time).

If I click on the single message, and select "View Message Details", it will show yesterdays sent time as "1/2/10 9:54PM"

Re: Fix/Workaround for 2016 Issue

Sprint says that this issue is on HTC and LG devices and should be resolved sometime today if not tomorrow.
