I'm pretty sure it's standard to show "Today" and "Yesterday" for recent messages.
I just think we got baffled by the 1/1/16 - and got used to seeing the date on new messages.
It's too early in the morning to be sure.
Thanks, forgot about that one, it will only show Today and Yesterday, haven't had enough coffee yet.
