Question Troubles with Internet Sharing on TP2...???

I used to have an HTC Mogul (Sprint PPC-6800) and I was able to easily get the internet sharing to work by editing the registry so that the ForceCellConnection option was set to Sprint PCS. This allowed me to tether the phone to my laptop over BT or USB and it worked great.

Now I've got a Touch Pro 2 and I'm trying to do the same thing but without any luck. I've got the same registry editor I had before (PHM Registry Editor) but when I make the registry update to the ForceCellConnection entry and then reboot the phone the option reverts back to Phone as Modem and the connection with my laptop won't work.

Any information on why that option keeps reverting back by itself or how to get this working would be greatly appreciated. I did try the .cab in the sticky for hacks (ICS and WModem fix) but it's still showing Phone as Modem in the registry and the tethering still does not work.

Please advise. Thanks!!!

Wirelessly posted (HTC Touch Pro 2: Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50286; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)

Is this fix for USB or Wifi sharing? I'm looking for some help with USB sharing please. Wifi works fine for me (using HTC wifi router), but I need to get the USB sharing to work.

Re: Troubles with Internet Sharing on TP2...???

I tried the cmguardian edit in the registry and it does hold the other changes now so that the option stays on Sprint instead of reverting back to Phone as Modem. The problem now is when I open up Internet Sharing on my phone the Bluetooth option doesn't show up in the drop down anymore!? The only option now is USB.

With that I just downloaded the WMWifiRouter and that's working beautifully and I can actually run both my laptops from it at the same time.

Re: Troubles with Internet Sharing on TP2...???

I'm using the wifi router built into Energy ROm which may be the same thing. Is this safe, assuming I don't go over 5 gb or abuse it (on sprint) ?

My old usbmodem application won't work any more. might be that I'm running a 6.5.x ROM.

I've always used the Internet Sharing in the past as much as I want without worrying about it at all. I've never had any problems with it. I don't know exactly how much bandwidth I used but it's gotta be a lot. I use it quite a bit.

I forgot to mention I had tried USBModem, too, but it would crash every time I tried to connect the computer to it. It always worked great on my Mogul, though.

For some reason the BT on this WMWifiRouter software is disabled but the WiFi is working so that'll work for me. Would be nice to get the BT working too, though.
