Change shutter sound?

I know you can turn the shutter sound off in the camera.
I want to change the shutter sound to a different one.
I've attempted replacing ShutterSound.wav and ShutterSound.pcm in the Windows directory and that didn't change it. I also deleted those files and the camera still makes the default shutter sound.

Does anyone know where the real sounds are for the camera?


edit: The default files reappear if deleted, if just replaced the new ones stay but the sound stays default.

I still haven't figured this out. I've googled and I've file searched the phone and I've done everything I can think of to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas?

When you replaced the two sound files did you soft reset?

did you use file explorer, total comander, or explore through activ sync?

I'm working on it right now but any feedback should quicken the process.

Ok the sound is called snap.wav in the windows folder. I just found it in the registry. if you replace that file it should work. let me know if that works.
Also the reg path is hklm\software\htc\camera\common\sourceofSnapsound

I didn't have time to replace the file but if you edit the reg to direct to a different file then wait a minute and soft reset it works. my shutter now sounds like a lightsaber extending.

I'm not sure if you can replace the file, that file doesn't even exist. I didn't try anyway.
I just changed the reigstry to point to snap2.wav, it's the "Your soul is mine" quote from MK. (attached)

The only problem is the picture doesn't finish taking until the wav is done playing... and my wav is just too long
