Voice / Data Simultaneously?

So, I'm remembering back in the day when I bought my first "Vision" handset and voice/data calls were only glitches in the system while they were doing beta testing and we were all told that we would be able to do that "someday". Later we were told that "someday" was nearing and it would be when we had EV-DO Rev. A (or B). So it appears that "someday" is here..

So my question is, once we get our software update on the Mogul, does anyone see the possibility of unlocking the software in the Mogul to allow simultaneous voice and data calls or are we all going to have to wait for WiMax?

My understanding of evdo is this is not and will not be possible at least up to Rev A.

Rev B will use carrier bonding (multiple channels, 3 to be specific) to increase aggregate bandwidth, and from what I have read will support simultaneous voice/data using one of three channels for voice.

EVDO Rev 0 and A don't support simultaneous voice and data. Sprint was originally going to implement EVDV instead of EVDO which would support this, but that's been scrapped. I haven't heard about Rev B, but I was under the impression we won't see simultaneous voice and data until WiMax.

Right, I forgot about EV-DV. My bad.

And no, Sprint isn't trying to ditch WiMax. Last word was that they were trying to get some additional funding through a partnership, but WiMax is well on its way to our laptops in test markets Q4 2007 or Q1 2008
