OTA programming after rom flash

I cant seem to get *228 to work for the life of me to update my prl to a roaming prl after flashing my rom. I am using DIamond Dette's 2.4 rom. I havent tried using any of the others yet, but has anyone else experienced the same problem and could someone give me a work around?

Do you know the specific code for your carrier's *228? (For example, with Alltel if I have connection problems I can use *22801 or *22899). Also, have you installed one of DCD's carrier CABs?

no, i have not installed a carrier cab. I normally just program this info and upload the prl myself.. is there other things that are installed that help with OTA?
