MMS files size restriction?

I'm trying to send mp3 files to my finaces' Verizon "Dare" phone. (I tried to talk her into a WM but, neigh, no, fugedabowdut.)

So after reading about that phone, the only way add ringtones without buying them is to attach a cropped mp3 to an MMS message. (another reason WM phones are awesome)

Arcsoft is capped at 399k and I've found the a bunch of registry settings and upped it to 700k (or 716800... 700 x 1024 = 716800).

All goes well until halfway through sending... I get the error "Message content is too large". I've read in a few places that the Verizon files size restriction is 325k for MMS?

Thoughts? Solutions? Discussions?

I may try reducing the quality of the mp3 to get it under 325k.
The other option will be more education with this silly "Dare" phone.
