Capitalize first letter of sentence

Another noob question for all you Mogul smart people.

I do not like for my phone to automatically capitalize the first letter of every sentence that I type, especially when I am texting. I have gone under the settings, input, and options and de-selected the capitalize box, but that has no effect and the phone capitalizes the first letter as soon as I put a space after the first word. Drives me crazy.

Do you smart folks have a solution? I am running the new ROM now and this problem was on the old ROM as well.

Have you done a soft reset since you changed the setting?

Yes. I did a soft reset as soon as I unchecked the box. When I go back into the settings page, I can see that the box is still unchecked but the CAPS still keep on CAPIN. grrrr this could drive a man to drink
