suddenly lost phone ringer - help, please!

my 6800 suddenly stopped audibly ringing with incoming phone calls.

The settings in settings/phone show:

Ring type:vibrate then ring
Ring tone: Ring-windowsmobile

I've double checked and it's not in vibrate or airplane mode.

Now here's what's interesting - when in the settings/phone screen I can adjust the menu items BUT when I hit the OK hard key or the OK button in the top right corner, nothing happens. the screen isn't totally frozen as I can adjust the ring type, ring tone, etc. but it doesn't seem to want to get off that screen. I can hit the upper left windows button to get back to the start menu OK.

Now when I do change the ring tpe and/or tone, since the ok button doesn't work, I hit the windows button to get off of that screen and reboot - but going back into phone/settings my changes don't take.

weird stuff.

any ideas?

thanks.

Jack

Re: suddenly lost phone ringer - help, please!

just thinking - is it possible that I've lost ALL my generic rings (I have no add on ringtones) even though the names of the generic rings (Bolero, telephone ring 1, etc.) still show in the drop down menu of "Ringtone" in the settings/phone page?

where in the file structure should I check for the generic ring tones?

Thanks

still working on the problem - while the OK buttons (both hard, lower right - and soft - upper right) don't work when on the settings/phone first screen - it does go away when I push the red phone button - the one we use to hang up a call?! strnge.

Re: suddenly lost phone ringer - help, please!

I just had the exact same issue and went through and removed the last program I had installed and suddenly all the ringers started working. Mine wouldnt rign and did the same locking up issue yours did in the phone settings and not doing anything when pressing the OK button. Try removing the last program you installed and keep going back until it works and you find out what program cause the issue.

thanks - of course I can't remember the last program I installed or the backwards order - I wonder if there's a way to determine that?

Under Settings/System/Remove Programs your apps are listed in the order installed with most recent at the top.

I had an older version that would cause the phone not to ring, but now have v0.99 and it works great.
