Problems with my xv6800 5-way navigation buttons (D-Pad)

Recently I have found some weird problem with my Titan. Some times after turning it on after a night of charging and I use the 5-way navigation buttons (d-pad) on the front of the phone the phone seems to think that I never let go of the down button. It will continue to scroll down and then after awhile the buttons don’t work at all. I have to soft reset to get them back and then sometimes the pattern repeats. The phone knows that I have pressed one of the buttons because if the screen dims I can press one of them to bring it back to full rightness just no moving the highlighting bar around. I have had my phone for about 2-3 weeks now and can’t understand it. It was new in the box when I got it at a Verizon store. I almost think that it’s a software problem but was wondering what you all might think. I’m using the stock rom and have the following apps installed.

SK tools
TCPMP
Palringo (im software) Don’t have it running when the problem occurs
SPB weather
Opera
Bejeweled 2
Google Maps

I have never heard of that problem before. Sounds to me like your D-Pad is getting stuck... or the drivers for it or not correct. Have you tried taking the phone back to Verizon and seeing if they will swap it out for you?

No I have not tried that yet. I was thinking about it but not sure if it was a software problem or not. It is very odd though.

Re: Problems with my xv6800 5-way navigation buttons (D-Pad)

I finally got a chance to call Verizon about this issue. I called and they had me do a hard reset. After that I thought everything was fine because I went to *288 and it activated. Well later this afternoon I tried to make a call and it didn’t work. It came on the phone and said welcome to Verizon it couldn’t recognize my phone. However I could receive calls and use data. After about an hour on the phone with them I finally got them to give me an a-key. Now everything is fine.

The d-pad is still having problems and they are sending me a replacement.

My question is why did it take them so long to figure out that it needed an a-key and will this happen every time I hard-reset ?

Thank you all!

Probably. I hope that you wrote the A Key down for future reference. If not, when you get the replacement and need to call again, write it down for sure.

I never thought I needed to write it down. I thought it changed every time or something.
