aGPS - working or not?

so while poking around the registry, I came accross:

HKLM/SOFTWARE/HTC/QuickGPS/0/0/IP/xtra1.gpsonextra.net

seems like the software may work, however if you go to http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/ and click on partners - who's paying - is there a chance we could use some other server settings that may be better?

Just throwing this out there as a crumb

Re: aGPS - working or not?

IMHO the mogul gps actually works most reliably with the gps service disabled, and put into standalone GPS mode.

Re: aGPS - working or not?

The QuickGPS uses are funny. Running a ap that takes up space and memory and does NOTHING for you. With the update 3.35 radio the gps can fix in under 10 seconds without that app if the conditions are right. Quickgps loads the data to a location that is NEVER checked again. It's a placebo... Nothing more.

Re: aGPS - working or not?

Is it enabled by default that I should disable, or is this something that was/is installed by the stock rom?

Re: aGPS - working or not?

aGPS is definitely working now. You should notice that if you activate GPS without a data connection, the phone will initiate a data connection and you can get a rough fix even with 0 satellites acquired. IMO this makes QuickGPS unnecessary even if it does actually work.
