Hi all, Im coming from a Treo 755p (PalmOS) to a MOGUL...

Re: Backup Program ?

Huh, yes WM has one and it blows the pants off any you know of. It backs up everything, anywhere you like, whenever you like.
Even if you don't feel like doing it regularly yourself, it can be scheduled to do it for you.

Sprite Backup:

IMHO get the entire pack, which is $40...... but this one should do.

Re: Backup Program ?

I second Sprite Backup.

The other popular one is SPB Backup.

I'm pretty sure that SPB Backup allows it too, but the thing I really like about Sprite Backup is, you have the choice of backing up to your PC or your storage card. If you save a backup to your storage card, you can save it as an executable file. So, if you have to hard reset and you no longer have Sprite Backup on your phone, the backup will first install Sprite Backup and then restore the backup.

Re: Backup Program ?

Unfortunately I have no experience with Sprite, however, SPB does backup everything and also creates an EXE on the card. I'm currently using this and have had no problems.

Quote:
SPB Backup:
  • Storage card backup
  • Customizable file restoration
  • Scheduled backups
  • Self-extracting executable backup files
  • Full and custom backups
  • Backup file compression
  • Backup file encryption
  • Desktop PC unpack tool

Resco Backup was my program of choice for my Palm Treos and they now have a Beta for WM. Haven't tried it out yet but it looks good.

Quote:
Resco Backup Beta:

Basic features:
  • Backup to the storage card
  • Full and custom backup
  • Full and custom restore
  • Backup compression
  • Safe encryption (uses industrial standard AES)
  • Fast incremental backup
  • Backup scheduling
Advanced features:
  • Integrity checking (Is the backup set corrupted?)
  • Customizable profiles (daily/weekly backups, separate backup of contacts...)
  • Compare backup set vs. device (Track changes)
  • Compare two backup sets
  • Manage your backup sets
  • Access backup sets on the desktop with any good zipper (no extract tool needed)

Re: Backup Program ?

I have Sprite AND Spb and prefer Spb Backup. It backs up quick and restores quick.
Sprite takes MUCH longer.

I use PIM backup along with Sprite Backup.

PIM backup doesn't backup any of your settings, registry hacks, or programs you've got installed. It only backs up your PIM (Personal Information Management) files.

It works well though, and I usually will get my phone the way I like it and then make a full backup with Sprite, then I set PIM backup to make a new backup daily. That way if I decide to try a new ROM and go back to the one I'm currently using, I can get all of my call history and messaging history restored.

Re: Backup Program ?

Sprite can handle rom upgrades great and SPB when I was using it couldnt really handle them at all. That is the main reason I switched.

If you are trying to back up your card though... honestly the quickest way to do it IMO is to use a card reader on your pc and do it with a PC application or even the built in Windows back up utilities. This did when I moved from a 2GB to 4GB and then to a 8GB card. Its fast and you have a copy on your computer if your card crupts or something.
