Before I ruin my phone

I know this is probably going to get deleted or moved or something but real quick, I'm a newb to flashing roms and all that, so what I need to do is back-up my phone, get the MSID or whatever I need to get, hard reset my phone to set it to default settings (???) and then go ahead and download the new update, soft reset twice and practice patience so the phone can fully update, and then im good to go?

this will be my first time changing roms. so what i have now is what sprint gave me, stock. it should run smooth, no?

it should. i have never had a problem, and if i did i always had people on here to ask. i was afraid to do this stuff in the beginning, but now it is a breeze.

i dont get the MSID stuff people talk about. when i download the update, my phone could potentially lose that stored info and need me to re-enter it? and i HAVE to call sprint tech support to get my specific MSID right?

well, i have flashed 5 different moguls to the 3.16 ROM, none of them required the MSID. worst case scenario, you flash it and need that stuff, call sprint and tell them you need your phone reprogramed. write that number down when they give it to you. just give the flashing a try man. it is nerve racking at first, but you will be fine.

You can get your numbers real easily before flashing to save yourself the hassle of calling. It literally takes about 5 seconds.

Just take your time, and verify each step. The people that get into trouble (and even then, it's easy to fix) are the ones who don't realize that they have to update the radio etc. And frankly, there is no excuse for it as the directions are VERY clear!

It's a good group here and they are very patient with noobs (hey, we all were once right?) so if you need help. Just ask!
