XV6800 Camera Problem

Hi all. I'm having a problem with my XV6800's camera. Recently on a suggestion from another forum member, I installed an MP3 alarm clock, which turned out to be problematic so I uninstalled it. Prior to uninstalling it, my MP3s for ringtones (stored on my storage card instead of main memory) would not fire and also the default ringtone changed to its canned tune. Once uninstalled, the MP3s for my ringtones work again but now my camera no longer works.

When I get into camera mode, there is no picture - just a blank screen. I've checked all of the settings on the camera (e.g. white balance, flash on/off, etc.) to see if it would "wake up" and give me a picture but to no avail. I'm wondering if the MP3 alarm clock that I installed (MortPlayer) changed a registry setting of some sort. I've searched the registry for any traces of this previous program and I think I've got it completely ripped out but since I'm not familiar with the reg keys for the camera functionality, I need some help.

Any suggestions before I go and talk to a Verizon tech? I'm wondering if they won't help me since I have a lot of the HTC apps installed (Home, X-Button, Custom, etc.) as well as a dialer skin, reg editor, etc. I think I'd probably get "well we can re-flash it to the original ROM and it will work again" kind of answer but I'm not looking for that unless that is my last option. Of course, if there is a defect, I'll ask for another phone.

TIA...

Do a hard reset. This will let you know if it was just a program or some hardware problem. Mortplayer is actually pretty good. I can't imagine it causing your problem but you never know.

Re: XV6800 Camera Problem

I've had a similar problem after using PPCGeeks-buildOS I can restore to the previous rom but I would like to build the custom build a custom rom with BuildOS. If there is some other solution than it would be nice to know.
