Snap Versus Ozone

Aren't the two phone running the same hardware. So doesn't that mean the the wifi could be enabled somehow on the Sprint version. Even HTC site says the snap has wifi.

Thumbs up Re: Snap Versus Ozone

I have used the O'Zone and I must say that this has to be one of the best WM phones ever produced.... It is absolutely the fasted WM phone I have ever touched!!

If you can do without the touch screen this is the best phone you can have. I mean -- it loads apps almost as fast as the button press... we use medical apps and it has always taken several seconds to load them... the O'Zone (snap) loads them instantaneously; that is no exaggeration!! The interface is a somewhat custom sliding panels UI from WM.

I recommend this phone to anybody period. It feels very very sturdy in the hand even though it is very slim and you can easily one hand operate this device.

Cool +1

Just picked up one from VZW on their 2 year upgrade plan for $0.00.

Came from a Palm 700wx that was tweaked to perfection. Took me about a day to get used to no touch screen and I was off and running.

Palm was prone to freezing even though every Saturday a I would do a soft reset after clearing out weather cache, internet cookies and temp files. Kept it clean and used a 4GB strorage card for pictures music and email attachments. 700wx was nice tool for work and play, Ozone is even nicer tool.

Love the HTC Home Theme from the start. No need for PocketWeather as m.igoogle gives me weather for cites I travel to in a heartbeat. Don't even think I need Resco Explorer, Memaid, SK Tools or IM+ the way the handset has performed this past week with me installing and uninstalling while playing with themes, wallpaper, ringtones and trial apps.

Everything synched with no problem whatsoever to my desktop Vista Ultimate and travel netbook using XP Pro.

Google maps with working GPS is cool.

Battery life is perfect for me, first trip was two days away and battery still had charge upon return with a little use for calls, texts and email. Still am conditioning it but it goes well beyond 24 hours now after two full discharge cycles before I get a low battery alert.

So far, so ggod, can't wait until it is out there long enought for all the tweaks and apps to start being posting here and elsewhere!

Re: Snap Versus Ozone

I've owned the Ozone for about 2 weeks now. (My wife killed my Vogue in the washer).

So far I like the Ozone a lot. My only complaints are-

1) Settings menu is all text instead of Icons like standard WM phones. I don't know if it is a standard smart phone thing or if it is unique to the Ozone/Snap.

2) Today screen lacks "real" customization. So far I'm stuck with the defaults and there is no way to add additional plugins.

On the plus side-

1) GPS is simple. It just plain works. I get locks in a matter of seconds and it did not require any hacking. Google maps and Garmin XT work perfectly.

2) WIFI is great. I've been creating my own hotspots using WM Wifi Router. I can connect my laptop and PDA to the internet via adhoc wifi from my phone. Nice!

3) PIE now supports Youtube and other video sharing sites. No need to download 3rd party software just to watch Youtube.

4) KB is a bonus coming from an all touchscreen phone. One hand texting is possible.

All in all it's a great phone but sometimes I miss my Vogue.

Chome Config should help out with Complaint 2, the program works awesome on the Sprint Snap.
