how do i upgrade windows media player

i have tried importing many different types of video players, and none of them will play. Each time i get the same error msg. It reminds me of a missing codex error, so i was hoping someone could tell me how to upgrade my player, or point me in the direction of a better player.

Try Coreplayer. Its great and will play almost any type of video
