EVO USB Connection

Is the Evo gunna have the same USB connection as the other HTC phones? I have 2 of the USB chargers for the Touch Pro and also a car charger, so it would be nice if I could use the same phone charger. Pretty lame question but i thought I had seen someone say that they were changing the connection for the charging aspect of the phone. Thanks

NO its not the same.

Its the smaller newer Micro-USB I believe. Same as the HD2, not same as TP, TP2, Hero, etc.

Re: EVO USB Connection

Yep. The micro USB is not the same as the TP or TP2 usb, so when I sell my TP2 on Ebay when I get my Evo, I will be selling it with 2 chargers.

Re: EVO USB Connection

Ok no biggie. Keep one and the house and I got a USB car charger adapter that uses any usb, so I will save a couple dollars on that. (Cheaper to get away with one of those instead of buying a car charger). Got mine from Ebay, and the best thing is you can use it for the ipod and everything. Might be something for everyone to look into. Also is there an advantage to the mini vs micro? Sorry for the newb questions but, just trying to get the last minute details on the little stuff, so I can take full advantage of my 20$ accs. credit from "The Shack" lol.

Re: EVO USB Connection

The advantage is...

The newer Micro-USB receptacles are designed to allow up to 10,000 cycles of insertion and removal between the receptacle and plug, compared to 1500 for the standard USB and 5000 for the Mini-USB receptacle. This is accomplished by adding a locking device and by moving the leaf-spring connector from the jack to the plug, so that the most-stressed part is on the cable side of the connection. This change was made so that the connector on the (inexpensive) cable would bear the most wear instead of the micro-USB device.

Ahh so thats what the $10 fee is for...jk
Sounds like it will be way more durable. heck my Treo 700WX use to break all the time at the cable connection.
