Best settings for video recording?

in the diamond,
im messing around in the video record options.. and i noticed theres options for size (S,M,L,CIF), compression options (MPEG4, 3GPP, h.263)

im wondering which settings are gonna give me the highest res, clearest picture? I dont even know what CIF is. I recorded in different settings and compared the videos for best combo, but they all suck.

is there any software that'll tweak the video recording performance or unhide some features?

HAHA i remember that show!!! nice way to post bump but i thought i saw a cab that edited all the stuf in the camera. how much FPS can you usually get right now?

S: 128 x 96 30 fps
M: 176 x 144 30 fps
L: 320 x 240 30 fps
CIF: 352 x 288 30 fps <--- the best

As far as the codec is concerned, I think mpeg-4 is the best. but I'm not sure.

ive deleted the files i recorded, but i think the max fps i saw was 17 at 320x240
it ended up being crummy.

but thanks prolasher, those specs will help me next time.

i was just wondering if there were some performance tweaks via reg edit for vi recording.
