Switching Gmail from imap to pop

I'd rather my phone be connected to gmails pop server than imap server because I want to delete things from the phone after I've seen them but leave on the server unchanged.

On my sprint phone, adding a gmail address to messaging automatically sets up an imap account and I don't see how to either bypass the automatic connection or change it to pop once it's there.

Any help?

Really? mine defaults to the pop3. in any case just mispell your address so it doesnt run the auto settings, and then you can just set it up yourself.

Re: Switching Gmail from imap to pop

That pretty much worked. I used a non gmail address set it to pop and changed the address afterwards.

If I turn off imap in gmail, somehow windowsmobile uses my password or something and gets it back on somehow, and once gmail is detected the option to change to pop is grayed out in wm.

Thanks
