and why is there only 43 mb free of storage?

there are certain programs on the stock rom that can be removed to free up space. you would be better off flashing a custom rom which will run faster, have significantly more memory available, and will have many new features. In the Diamond Upgrade section, many roms are listed along with pictures and usually a picture of the page showing memory available. As for saving programs to internal storage, you can save most programs to internal storage but with the custom roms, you will have more than enough room.

Here is the link to learn how to unlock, and flash a custom rom. make sure you read it to understand the process:

good luck.

Re: installing stuff

yep, the stock rom only has 43mb free. I try to install what I can to the internal storage, but some things like s2u2, picture mail, and the manila hd can only be installed to the main memory. the only way around this is flashing a custom ROM. Most of them have around 90-100MB free memory (which really makes a difference). Just take a look at the upgrade section and see if any of them catch your fancy. Or you can use calkulin's kitchen to make your own.

there are some older threads on this but if I'm not mistaken, there is a way to remove the diamond user manual (not sure what is called since I haven't been on the stock for a while). It listed in the start menu though. If you do a search with exact name, you should find a thread on how to remove this from through the windows folder in device memory. Also may be able to remove some of the ringtones. this can get you about 8 mb of space.

Re: installing stuff

Welcome to the Diamond...

I would honestly recommend going and flashing a custom rom (or make your own). Now, I have 93 megs free after a reset, and it has given me a ton more functionality.

Re: installing stuff

Well you can hard reset the device and stop customization by soft resetting your diamond when it starts and then you have to go threw your diamond and install all the software manually and you can install some of the bigger files like Opera on the internal memory. Its quite the pain in the butt and you would probably be much better off using a cooked rom like Mightys where I think you have 88mb of free mem after the install and it runs much better than stock.
