hardware button problem

I am running Mighty's ROM, but had this problem with the stock SPRINT rom as well. The hardware buttons don't seem to work correctly if pressed quickly. What I mean is, if I press a bunch of the hardware buttons quickly it seems the buttons get confused and they don't bring up the correct things. Sometimes pressing the dialpad button changes the screen to something other than the dialpad. Just wondering if this is normal and I should press the HW buttons slower or maybe get the phone replaced. It also does not happen all the time...

It seems if I place my finger on the hw button wait 1-2 sec. before I press it usually works. If I don't pause, sometimes it does, sometimes it does not.
