Car charger requires the adaptor

I ordered a car charger that I thought was specific to HTC, but what I got instead was a generic charger that would work on Motorola, Blackberry, etc phones. When I plug my phone directly into this charger, it doesn't charge at all. That is, the little battery icon doesn't change to a plug, nothing. The same thing happens when I plug my phone into the USB cord that I plug into my wall adapter.

However, in both cases (wall and car) when I use the adapter that came with the phone (it has the ports for headphones on it) the phone will charge.

Is this normal? When I was in an Alltel store, none of the car chargers they had would work either.

Re: Car charger requires the adaptor

you can tell if its charging by the blinking circular light on the touch pad. when its fully charged the light will remain steadily lit. mine doesnt show the indicater up top either.

I'd say it's not normal....When you plug your phone with the USB cord and the included wall adapter the phone doesn't charge???I can't tell for car charger but with the usb cord and the wall adapter, you do NOT need the rectangular adaptor that came with the phone.

My phone does that, thanks! I'll have to check the charger, but when I plugged it only into the USB cord it had the lights going.

Now if I can figure out how to get the GPS to work...damn you Alltel

Your welcome. As for GPS on Alltel, Conflipper has an Alltel specific rom. Reviews from users are very good in terms of speed, and gps. I linked it for you below. Good luck!

I'm on Alltel, and I got GPS working with Google Maps without any tweaking or anything. I first run the program "Quick GPS," then go to Google Maps and under "Menu," select "Use GPS." Works every time for me, although I've heard of others having problems. Good luck!

Re: Car charger requires the adaptor

GPS is easy to unlock BTW. Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but if you want to get your Alltel AGPS unlocked, just follow the sticky.
