ROM question.

I'm sure this is probably posted already and i apologize but i did a quick search and didn't find what i was looking for. can someone tell me what the point of upgrading my ROM is? i am using the ROM that came with my PPC. (i have Alltel if that makes any difference?) and was wondering if there was a point in me upgrading my rom. i read that there is a possibility to break my ppc and was wondering what makes it worth the risk. again i apologize because its probably on here somewhere and thank you in advance.

Re: ROM question.

Flashing a custom ROM has many benefits such as increased battery life, sometimes increased data speeds, faster response, unlocked hidden features (like FM radio), unlocked GPS...and so on , and so on.

I would suggest taking a look at a few custom rom threads in the upgrade forum, and also read the how to's in the sticky's very thoroughly before doing anything to your phone.

Re: ROM question.

Well its hard to recommend one due to the fact that they are all so different. It all depends on what applications, looks, and features you want. Again, you need to look at them all and read about what each offers, other users experience with them and then decide which one meets your needs best.
