Turning off data connection if you don't have a Data Plan

Sick of your diamond connecting to the data connection and running up charges at $0.03/kb ?

I was looking around in the registry and found this:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A3 8-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\Phone as Modem "Enabled"=1

Change the enabled=1 to enabled=0.

It's been working for me!

Can't you accomplish the same thing by deleting the connections in the connection manager?

Yes - I don't have a data plan as well.

I am not using that reg key, but rather a mixture of using the 'NoData' app as well as changing the default connection option for internet access programs to a dummy ISP that dials nothing. (I couldn't make it select Wi-Fi...oh well).

I'll try that regkey for absolute security against accidental data transmission

i dont know who tc is but "i" only said + for the ops post as it helped someone, dont care who has unlim. data, just giving +1 for usefull post. i personally dont think you insulted the op.
