Don't wake on new SMS

I've searched.

Here's what happened - on my Diamond, I installed Diamond Tweak first thing. I left the setting to "Wake on new sms" set to DISABLED. I installed SMS Chat. I UNinstalled SMS chat, and I was left with the Text notify bubble re-enabled, and WAKE ON NEW sms happening, although disabled in Diamond Tweak. I've enabled/disabled, uninstalled, reset.....no matter what I do, it still wakes the phone on a new sms. Can someone make a suggestion about what I should try next? I really don't want my phone coming on with a new message and sucking the life out of my battery, as well as being in my pocket and accidental screen taps...... thanks!
Suz

Its easy! Just install a Registry editing program on your ppc. PHM is a free one (Can be downloaded HERE).

Then just change the registry keys to whatever the new or correct keys are.

For example, you need to do a registry change for wake up on new sms.

So here it is from XDA site: HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent <-- set to "1" by default. Change value to "0"

HKLM means HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then go to the Drivers folder then BuiltIn folder then RIL. Change DisableSMSWakeUpEvent to "0" if you want to turn it OFF

Usually 0 means OFF, 1 means ON...like Binary format.

Always be carefull what you change as it can damage your phone, and always soft reset after changing anything in the registry to make sure it takes affect.

Hope that helps

Hey that does help.. I will try that now - I guess I need to jump into registry editing. I'm just unfamiliar.... I see you're in OP, Ks? I'm close to Sprint land myself.

Re: Don't wake on new SMS

But if I'm trying to DISABLE the wake up, don't I want it to be ON, which is a 1? It's already set at 1 now and is still waking up on an SMS..........

Do I need to check BINARY? Right now it has the dot next to DECIMAL...... is that why it's not working?

No... you don't need to change it from decimal. Are you on a stock rom?
