Something is draining my battery

I don't get it with this diamond. sometimes the battery lasts well. I can be on youtube, making calls, browsing, and it holds up well. Sometimes, i will use it swiftly for a few functions, like a few calls, web search, and then i notice that it has a tendency of getting hot on occasions. not always. i don't know why. i am on juicy 2.5 with the battery fix cab applied. i used to think that its gyrator draining resources by running in the background, but i doubt it now. i checked for the last few hours it was hot, and the task managerhas been empty. i am not sure why it is, but the battery barely gets through the day often. i am not sure why this happens, but i notice that power loss is often associated with heat. any thoughts?

Re: Something is draining my battery

I think there may be something wrong with the BT stack as well. I turned mine off for the first time since I got my Diamond and the battery lasted about twice as long. I know BT drains the battery but I don't think it was quite as agressive on the Touch - I could be wrong though.

Re: Something is draining my battery

I've been turning bluetooth off when I'm not using it and I've been closing apps when I'm not using them, and I've been having decent performance. I've done the hacks for polling the battery and managing the protocols.

Re: Something is draining my battery

not sure if this would work on the telus version or not, but i had an issue with my phones battery life and when i called a sprint store, not sprint CS because they are all idiots, but a sprint store, the guy told me to shut off the e911 locator, aka the circle with the cross hair in it....

the phone sends out around the clock a beacon single for ur location, not even tied into the gps what so ever...

after shutting it off i got more life outta the battery...

just a thought...

Re: Something is draining my battery

with dotfred's task manager you can stop it manually or kill it and then just run it when you need it. or just dont put an exception for gyrater in HTC's task manager so you can kill it at will.

Re: Something is draining my battery

Is there a registry setting you can change to kill the gyration permanently - never needed it - never will.

Thanks

if you shut of e911 (Location) then your GPS will also stop functioning.

Re: Something is draining my battery

oh yes. i had to learn that the hard way.
but i am not sure whether it was gyrator, or some other odd reason.

the day before i took my phone partially charged, about 50%+/- and was using it a lot. youtube, gps tool was on for hours and hours clearing memoery, internet, making calls, and i still made it home with battery to spare.

yesterday, i made a few quick calls, lil bit of gyrator here and there, some internet, gps. bam, the battery was fried literally. it was hot and dead.
