why listen to old fashioned OTA radio when tunein, iheartradio and slacker radio provide superior digital quality audio.

First, I have a lot of musician friends and have 5 that have public radio shows. I can listen to their whole broadcast via the OTA and still have access to the rest of the phone without interruption . I also listen to NPR on the work commute. I usually get to work with only the last 5 mins left. I can just hit the volume rocker hit play and grab the rest on the walk from the car. Agreed, I use and love Slacker with the buds in but in most cases OTA fits my mulitasking needs better, is also quicker, and digital quality isn't a primary need for "talk" radio.

Re: Alright, I've spent over 2 weeks with the phone now...

I forgot to add in my previous post regarding cutting the cord off my old headphones to use as a plug for OTA speakerphone use. I know the cord is used for an antenna and just wanted to throw in a caution regarding reception. I have no reception issues but I also live in the heart of my city. If you live in an outlying area reception could be compromised.

Re: Alright, I've spent over 2 weeks with the phone now...

I use Tune in as stated on my first post... However... I work at the base of a canyon and phone/internet reception SUCKS!!! Which was one of my challenges in dealing with my TP2... Everyone in my office who had a phone with a tuner can listen to the radio. I couldn't and internet based radio would cut in and out. So rather than deal with the interruptions... I switch to the old time radio tuner and it works just great. Having said that... Otside of my office the OTA tunner gets no love it's all internet radio for me.

Re: Alright, I've spent over 2 weeks with the phone now...

can anyone comment on the line noise while using headphones? Zunes were known for their crystal clear playback and was curious if that will be a known trait of wp7's.

I dont have the Arrive; still with the TP2 unfortunately. But all of my TP2's have had the hiss issue. Out of my headphone drawer, my Senn IE8's and UE triple.fi 10's hiss the most; but they're both really low impedence headphones to begin with. generally the higher impedence headphones attenuate the noise better, but since I play music at really low volumes(like 1-2 clicks from silent on the rocker) it is very noticable
If the Arrive is a clean source, it'll be my next phone for sure

PS: the IE8's are incredibly punishing when it comes to a dirty source. they will sound like broken speakers in some songs because of the added noise

then it must be the encoding of ur files. I know some of those high end headphones will bring out the imperfections and audio artifacts. try encoding them into .wma pro format with a 64k bitrate and a 48khz sample rate and see how much noise ull hear then.

Re: Alright, I've spent over 2 weeks with the phone now...

+1 for the Stability Vote! I was absolute SICK of my TP2. My wife would call and be pissed that the call didn't go through. Come to find out it's stuck at the screen calibration again. WTF? I hadn't even went their though. Opera would close out, the phone would need to be reset every other day, even custom roms sucked especially when compared to how stable the HTC Touch was and I like having real MMS now. I Love my Arrive! Day 1 buyer! Still happy! Now I really can game anywhere.
