You can, just flash or have your phone flashed. My phone is an Alltel Phone and I have it on the Cricket Network.

sim cards wont work, however if you went to a country that uses RUIM cards you could buy one and put it in your phone.

Re: RUIM Slot on PPC6700

hi guys... i m from indonesia.. my verizon 6700 got ruim too...
much people in here hack this pda... because there are a lot of cdma carrier.. and people usually like to change their ruim for data usage or phone... ex : carrier A is the cheapest for data... and carrier B is the cheapest for phone and sms...
^_^
when i flashed my pda... i use generic... so i can use my ruim to connect my carrier
but i can't change the NAM setting... and i think NAM setting won't bother with my ruim... i hate it when i need to hard reset... because i need to set my call back number to my ruim number

Re: RUIM Slot on PPC6700

I am also a Reliance CDMA user. My son is in US and he is inclined to bring a Droid for me.. but I am not sure if I can use it with Reliance Services.. Local ( Bangalore ) Reliance webworlds are not helpful in any way. The one I am using now has this R-UIM slot. Not sure if Droid has R-UIM slot and if not how can I make use of it.. If not, how do I fix one... Any help from you guys.. I am not a hardware person and do not know anything about sholdering etc.. Pls help
