RUIM Slot on PPC6700

i have Soldered a new RUIM Slipper type Slot in Back of PPC6700 below the Battery

I have First UnScrew the Back Body 4 Screws then Removed Camera Cover then agains UnScrewed 4 Screw then I Remove SD Card and Stylus which have made easy Access to the Board of PPC6700 i have Removed the Black Sticker on the Board and then i can see the 6 Pin Layous where i have Solder the RUIM Slot now My Phone works on RUIM instead of NVM based System.

My Operator is Reliance in India and I uses Verizon PPC 6700

I had to look up RUIM, but wow that's cool!

This is quite interesting. I thought the radios on these units were carrier specific? I.e. that is why you nearly "brick" a phone if you flash another carrier's radio firmware?

Very cool if the RUIM actually works. Maybe something on the underground could be developed to use RUIM with US carriers even though they won't support them. It'd be nice that even though we can't switch our phones to GSM providers, it'd be nice to at least switch to other CDMA providers.

I found a really informative PDF file about CDMA and R-UIM. Check it out!

It works well in China Unicom if you add a RUIM slot.

U Just have to Open the The Board under the battery Unscrewing 8 Screws.

Remove the Blank Plastic sticker Film and then there will be 6 Pinouts u have to Solder the RUIM Socket there and Assemble the Phone

then u have to Change the ROM Variable # 855 (Interger Value)

Where

0 = RUIM Mode (Removable User Identity Module based Connection)
1 = NVM Mode (Non Volatile Memory based Connection)
2 = RUIM if Available (means) First Priority to RUIM then NVM

I am Using Mode 2 so when i insert any 3 Party RUIM of

Tata Indiacome or Reliance Telecom the Phone Swithced to that Network and when i remove RUIM and Reboot it uses NVM and gets into Previou State.

Remeber I am using Verizon and i dont have to Change the Radio ROM i am using Verizon Phone made RUIM Based into Reliance Infocomm in India using RUIM Card.
