##778 FYI Post (Primarily Alltel)

BE CAREFUL USING THIS YOU CAN SCREW YOUR
PHONE UP!!
Here are some things I have found out:

If you have bought your phone or received your phone other than straight from the carrier (Bought from Ebay, bought from a friend, bought at a pawn shop, etc.) and you are having issues with data or other similar issues try these:

Dial ##778
on Alltel the passcode is 000000 (that's 6 zero's)

On my phone the MSID is my phone number with area code, double check this with your carrier if you are unsure if your MSID has been changed to coincide with your account and not the previous users.

Click the Display option on the left and select NAM setting
Here alot of the numbers listed ON MY PHONE were the previous owners phone number. I took all of those and changed it to my number. Each option here, with the exception of the MCC, MNC, and true MCC and True MNC were changed to my number accordingly. Some will have just the area code, some will have the number without the area code, some are the MNC, MCC, then the number etc. Look closely at the numbers before you start trying to change things!!

Click the NAM Setting option at the top, and select security:
On ALLTEL the HDR AN Auth User ID is YOUR NUMBER @alltel.net if you are not on Alltel double check with your carrier to see if it's the same setup. (Check another phone at the store, OR another phone on that carrier)

The HDR Auth Password I left alone
The PPP USER ID is the same as the HDR AN Auth User ID (Your Number @alltel.net) and the PPP Password was alltel

CLICK on the Security Option at the top, and select M.IP Default Profile
These settings are actually on all the M.IP Profiles:
NAI should be your number @alltel.net
EACH PROFILE WILL HAVE TO BE CHECKED
To do that click on the M.IP Default profile at the top and select M.IP Customer Profile 1 and double check the NAI and repeat until you get to the last Profile.

Extra Info:
Phone Directory
I added in some extra numbers here just in case. From what I have found out these numbers are Numbers that Alltel can access in case of an emergency. Say you call 911 from that cell phone, the police can't find you, well all your family that lives with you at the Alltel Billing address is with you. They have these other numbers they can try though to contact other family that you are in an emergent situation. I just put a name, then the relation in parenthasis.

Data Parameters
The number the phone dials to access the data connection

Modem Settings:
This is sort of tricky
the Preferred Mode can be changed but this is what I found out:
CDMA Only - 1X only (but not MMS, no Text MSG, etc coming in)
HDR Only - EVDO only (but hard to make a call when outside of the EVDO area)
Digital Only - Again either no signal or limited signal.

Hope this helps some of you out there.
