Windows Mobile Device Center - Stop Syncing Contacts

I want to stop syncing my contacts with Windows Mobile Device Center. When I go to change content sync settings, I uncheck contacts. I then get a warning that all contacts that were previously synced will be removed from my phone. If I click OK, all contacts are removed from my phone. How do I stop this from happening?

I currently have my contacts in Outlook, but it is not my default email program. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Mobile Device Center, but when I install it, my settings are still there.

Basically, I just want to sync my contacts between Dashwire and my phone, and take Outlook out of the picture completely.

Thanks for any tips.

Okay, found the answer. I used PIM backup to backup my contacts and everything. Then I deleted the partnership and started a new one. Works good now.
