Brand new WM phone, odd problem, looking for ideas

Okay... I am on my third i760 replacement in two weeks.

First one, which I had for a year, started having touch screen issues, it just wouldn't recognize the taps.

Second one, a refurb, right out of the box, won't calibrate the touch screen correctly. After several attempts, it is consistently reading my screen taps 1/4" in higher than where I tap.

Now they send me a brand new one in the box with accessories and everything. Touch screen works PERFECTLY on this one, BUT....

Some of my sound effects aren't working. The sound works overall, play music or set ringtones or whatever, but some sound effects don't work or work intermittently. For instance, I enable the tap sound for when I tap on the touch screen. But it won't work. UNLESS there is another sound already playing. I.e.: if I have music playing with WMP, the tap sound works when I tap the screen. But if I'm just sitting at the today screen, no tap sound no matter how I try.

The issue is strictly with very short sounds. It's like the speaker isn't responding fast enough.

After playing with it some more I realize that any really short sounds it's like only the very tail end of the sound plays, you can just barely hear it, but if I cause the sound to play repeatedly very quickly, then it will play fully. For instance, the screen tap, tap once, and if I hold the phone to my ear I can hear a little sound, but if I tap a bunch of times in a row I will get the full tap going for each touch of the screen.

Is there some kind of buffer or other setting that maybe I can adjust in the registry that might affect this?

Even several hard resets did not resolve this issue. This phone already has the latest ROM version available from Verizon. I called them hoping they might be able to point me in the right direction, instead they said they would have to switch me to another phone. They offered me my choice of XV6800, XV6900, and Saga. I really don't want ANY of those phones! He said if I want to wait they may allow me to direct trade to a Storm or a new slide out keyboard WM phone that he wouldn't name or give me any information on... I'm sure he was talking about the Touch Pro. Free upgrade!

But until that day, do you guys have any suggestions??
