Help with Mailbox New Mail Notifications.

I use Outlook for my mail and I have my mail setup with sub-folders in my inbox. For example I have a folder in my inbox labeled "Family" So if I get an email from a family member it automatically goes to the family folder. Outlook recognizes it as New Mail and will give me a notification. My phone on the other hand will only notify me of New Mail in the inbox only it will not detect it in a subfolder. Is there a registry hack or setting somewhere that addresses this problem?
