Forgotten/unknown lock pattern android 2.x with broken volume rocker, how to reset?

Hey xda community in need of some help
I found this beat up looking htc one past week.
Broken volume rocker, specifically the up key.
Problem is it has a pin (combo lock) so ill have to factory reset to use.
Well, i cant get it to initiate the reset rlwithout pressing vol up since there is no camera key.
Am i mistaken, is there a work around?
I was thinking there had to be some command from the computer to tell the phone to factory reset, or couldnt i just install a custom operating system?
Thanks team!

Also thought maybe cdma workshop?? Or something similar..

To add at first i coukd get the phone to go.to the screen with the option for factory reset, but now, after some unwanted company got thier hands on it, it will boot to "safe mode" rather than display the screen with the recovery options.

I have android multi tools which is able to connect with it, multi tols has an reset lock code option, but it fa dLoOLhtI deirT
