Any way to stop multiple notifications from new mail?

This is really annoying. Basically whenever I get new mail, every 5 minutes or so the phone will vibrate a notification until I read it. Is there a way to make it so the phone only notify once per new mail received?

It was pretty annoying leaving my phone on vibrate last night, only to keep hearing the phone vibrate every once and a while, until I was finally fed up and turned it on silence. When I woke up I thought I must of gotten a ton of mail, but just a single one. When I figured out what was happening, I figured I'd just turn it to silence when I go to bed (although this would also cause missing any urgent phone calls).

This also bit me twice earlier today, once while driving to work, every few minutes it was vibrating due to a single email. Then again earlier while talking with a coworker, the phone kept going off the whole time, but I didn't want to be rude and leave the conversation just to tell my phone to STFU.

Anyway, long post, but short question, how can I make it so it only does one notification per new message?

you may have a few apps for email with same account info. thus the each will notify you. check what email apps you have and select to only one to notify. some may have option to pop up in task bar, which would require you to open that as well.

just a thought, not sure what you have on device.
