Error when using RUU

Hello
HTC Diamond (Telus) (brand new)
It would seem that every time i use RUU i get an error msg ERROR (224): Device not responding.
I've tried several soft reboots to the PPC and reboots to the PC re-plugged usb cables, used other cable... nothing has remedied the issue.
I've also noticed whenever i Active Sync it, it can't sync with MS Outlook 2007 but I'm able to access or Explore the device.
OS Windows xp pro sp3

If anyone can shed some light on this issue... Thank you
Max

It sounds like you have not unlocked the device. You can download the diamond unlocker from the sticky to unlock your device.

Re: Error when using RUU

Hi and thanks for reply!
I've tried to unlock the device using diamond unlocker where I've got the same error msg in RUU.
However, after I hard-reset the Diamond, i was able to update rom using RUU and also unlock it.
I hope that this finding is used by other Diamond users who have experienced such difficulties with RUU upon ROM update or sync issues with MS Outlook.

Cheers!

Good deal! Thanks for telling us your story. I know this will help others. I will remember this as I have not seen this as a solution before.

Thanks man!

Go to your connections tab under settings, system, and check/uncheck (whichever it isn't right now) the advanced usb connection (something like that) this always happened to me with the stock telus rom.

Ah, never mind.. you already fixed :P If it happens again, you can always just go into bootloader mode, and then plug the phone into your computer. Do this by pulling the battery, putting it back in, and hold the power and volume down buttons until the tri-colour screen shows up. Plug in, and then flash normally as if it was plugged into activesync. The computer will still recognize the phone, and all will flash well.
