Re: Windows 6.5

Should this be in Pocket PC news instead in Diamond upgrades?

Re: Windows 6.5

just wanted to see if any of the rom cookers had any insite, since they would come out with it before the carriers would...well at least more than likely.

Re: Windows 6.5

That's mostly because of the utter lack of information surrounding Windows Mobile 6.5. We've had two one-liner quotes from Ballmer and Motorola's CEO. That's it.

And, really, this is because Microsoft just realized that Windows Mobile 7 couldn't cut it against iPhone, so they delayed it to late 2009. Now Microsoft is backporting the a few polished features from Windows Mobile 7... and getting out one release to hold everyone over.

But, don't blame us for lacking in detail. Blame Microsoft for putting together a release of Windows Mobile in five minutes.

Re: Windows 6.5

i'm glad they're releasing 7 as 6.5 because at the rate 7 was going, it was going to take forever. whatever they have now is better than nothing at all....hopefully.

I wouldn't say Windows Mobile 6.5 will be "7 released as 6.5."

Windows Mobile 6.5 will likely be a more significant improvement to 6 than 6.1, but not as sweeping as 7.

I would expect IE Mobile 6, SideShow, and perhaps a tweaked, DirecDraw-accelerated interface. Perhaps Zune released as an add-on post-launch to retrofit/replace Windows Media Player.

And, I also expect Microsoft to not work as hard to assure 6.1 devices will be updated. Microsoft needs to sell new OEM licenses as Apple is now beating them in sales.

Weare Expecting that a Giant Elephant should run as a Zibra.

Microsoft have Upgraded from 6 to 6.1 in 1.5 year in the same time Google have made Android from Scratch

Re: Windows 6.5

Android took much longer than 1.5 years to develop... the software components took about 3 to 5 years to develop (depending on where you consider Android to have become the Android Project).

But now even Microsoft agrees... they've had their head in the sand. Realizing that they have to get Windows Mobile 7 right, even if it takes an extra year, was the first major step.
