spot the n00b

Hi All,

Just got me a Treo 750v and had an operation - so I've been unable to get my hands on it for a few days. Now I can and I'm liking what I see, despite coming from a Treo 600 (Palm OS..) and Mac/Linux background. so lots of new territory, which is half the fun.

One of the things I liked about my previous Treo was OperaMini support, but there doesnt seem to be a OperaMini version for this OS.

The onboard IE browser doesnt support javascript, so I can't run this speed test (http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed), which would be neat before I go and try the HSDPA patch posted here. Although maybe its enabled already on this device - I'm in London and I think they have HSDPA here. Probably restricted to a subset of customers..

Is there another browser you would recommend? Ideally I'd like to try before I buy, or donate. Wanna save up for a mini SD card

Can anyone identify what the browser is that is being used by .:uvz:. before the Data Rate Monitor screenshot here?

Have fun all,

Mysty

He is using internet explorer as it is on the treo. I use explorer as well. Without any hickups. Not sure why explorer is not working for you...

You are quick, and accurate - many thanks.

I disabled some of the running applications I was running, and the speedtest page started working. I got about 380k..

So now what I think I'm looking for is some PPC version of Ghost or Acrons so I can have a backup clean restore point after I irrevocably bork things with HSDPA and all sorts of other things.

Cheers,

mysty

You are welcome.

I do not know Ghost or Acrons but I use Sprite backup myself. It restored everything after I messed things up a bit....

JUST the kind of tip I was looking for.

Norton Ghost and Acronis TrueImage(?) I use to clone (boot) partitions for desktop windows. I find it's sometimes easier to go back 'in time' that way than undo the chaos I've tortured some unwitting OS with, by fatfinger, hand, mallet, forehead..

I'll go check Sprite - Thanks again
