Odin should work on x86 or x64 but you need the samsung x64 bit drivers to connect to your pc. Do a google search and you will find them. I believe they are on xda aswell under the epic development section. Read up on using odin, with the wrong settings checked you could brick your phone.

I am using windows 7 64bit and odin works fine. As stated you need 64bit drivers.

I had the same problem as the OP and the drivers helped. HOWEVER, I had to uninstall all the drivers then reinstall them again..... |

Minor problems that could cause Odin failures (once you have the right drivers) include the crappy Sammy usb connection cord. I switched to a Blackberry cord and everything worked better. You might also might try connecting using a different usb slot on your PC if you're not getting the results you want.

At work I have to connect to the USB ports on the back of the tower...directly connected to the mother board...front slots just don't cut it.
