Re: So insurance still replacing with refurbed diamonds with Sprint?
Basically Only windows Mobile phones (and older palm) can be turned on with the family plan (if you plan is like mine it sounds like it). This is sprints way to try to strong arm you for more money.
if you "upgrade" your plan to use a different smart phone you will spend at least 75.00 of your hard eared dollars. I tried to get a new phone. Here is my short story. I needed a little better phone. I payed for a Samson instinct, basically I meet some one in the store they checked the phone out and looked at my plan. They told me the phone was good so I payed the guy for the phone he left then thy told me I had to "upgrade my plan for it to work after I payed for the phone. I was left with a useless phone that sprint would not active. The only new phone you could get is the HTC Touch Pro2 for 200.00 with 2 year commitment. THe other person gave you good advice ebay.com flash the phone to WM 6.5 look at the android ports its stable but will not have good battery life. IF you upgrade be prepared to pay. Sprint is not going to strong arm any more, After my contract is up I will be going else were. There is no valued reason why you cant use any smart phone you want. The told me like 10 different things its a limits on there network. Every thing under the sun. Kind of funny that I use android and wm 6.5 on my diamond But I cant have a android on the family plan I have unlimited data 1000 sms messages I have the family plan 550 my bill is like 74,99 with 3 phones to "upgrade my plan" It starts out at 150.00 and every one gets unlimited data and sms My 70 year old mother dose not sms or serf the web with her feature phone and my wife could care less about either of those. Put sprint wants them to Please forgive any spelling mistake's Last edited by raven.warsong; 07-22-2010 at 04:36 PM. |

Wirelessly posted (HTC Diamond: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) Sprint MP6950SP)
I just got a diamond refurb from a local Sprint Store last month. If you go to the store you shouldn't have to pay. I didn't.

better luck going ebay or something. if its fried and not physically busted and you pay the 7 bux and month you might get another diamond. i did also about month ago. you might get lucky and they might offer you something "similar" Asurion may do the same.

Re: So insurance still replacing with refurbed diamonds with Sprint?
My back up Diamond's vibrate motor bit the dust. For some reason Sprint would not fix it since I had it for over a year. Called up Asurion and they offered me the Palm Pixi as an alternative since they didn't have any Diamond's in stock. I said that I would need to be switched to a more comparable model that has Windows Mobile. I told her the only phone that I saw had that was the Touch Pro 2. After a brief minute on hold, she said she will order the TP2.
I loved my Diamond, but after having the TP2 for the last couple months, I am happy that I now have a back up one of those. Yes, I spent the $100 deductable. But having a SERO plan and the TP2, I don't think I would ever want to switch from that. By far the best phone and plan that I have ever had. Not a slight to Diamond as I loved how compact it was, but the TP2 is miles better IMO. |

Re: So insurance still replacing with refurbed diamonds with Sprint?
Just as another data point, my Diamond got water damage over the weekend (still kind of works after drying, but some buttons are sporadic). I decided to call in since I only have the ERP portion of the insurance, and the first/only phone offered to me was the Touch Pro 2. I would guess it might now show up if you do an online replacement as well (at least they finally realized it makes sense to replace a WM phone with another WM phone...).
