Re: Data connection is always on, killing battery, used to turn off...
I'm not sure what he did in his roms, but I run this program (bandswitch) that will kill an idle connection after so many seconds (that you determine) and will reconnect when requested, I have mine set to 30 seconds so when I'm browsing the web, had it set to 15 and could get 9+ hours, but browsing the web sometimes took forever cause it had to reconnect, give it a try and see what you think

Nosey, that sounds cool! I might have to try that cab out. OP, keep in mind the newest stuff with more eye candy and features will require more resources than the older stuff. More processes running requiring more ram, cpu, and battery polling. So naturally you probably won't get the battery life you had with older builds. Never say never though! That's part of the challenge when cooking to try to add new stuff without overloading the hardware.

Re: Data connection is always on, killing battery, used to turn off...
Ok, thanks, I'll give that cab a try and see what happens. Otherwise I'll go back to the old ROM. A couple more months and I'll probably switch to the Evo anyway. I love WM to death - I had the original XDA on T-mobile and have had one ever since. But, with MS killing it, I don't see much point in sticking around. WM7 looks like a turd compared to Android and WebOS.
