Right now in Android, PPP doesn't use any username/password, and I think this might be the problem.

I'd like to test out this theory--could a USCC user PM me their phone #? I'll put the username/password into a rootfs and send it to back to you.

If anyone wants to try it themselves, you need to put the username/password into the rootfs in init.etc/ppp/pap-secrets, like so:
<TenDigitPhone#>@uscc.net (tab) * (tab) <TenDigitPhone#>
the mcc and mns are different too. not sure if changing that will work
i did what you said, booted into linux and mounted the rootfs.img and so far when trying to get on 3g it never showed the icon, i phone eventually rebooted itself. going to look around at some different stuff though

Well i went and added the mcn and mcc numbers into the apn xml file and not change, when i did the thing that mrpippy said to do the 3g light stays on all the time now.

what i meant is that the 3g light is on all the time but still not able to use the data.

Re: Android running on US Cellular data service

Well did a clean install with this new rootfs with my info in it, and no data connection at all. Went into network settings, and did search for networks and then it rebooted. Wifi still works ok, but never even got a 3G icon.

you have to mount the rootfs.img in linux. Not sure if there is a way in windows or not. I tried magiciso and it didn't like the file.

Re: Android running on US Cellular data service

Sorry im a bit of a newb to this but, I recently added android to my touch pro 2 on USCC and have no data. What I can confirm is that the APN settings on USCC blackberrys at least are MCC 310 and MNC 00 the user name has to be the phone's MIN@uscc.net (min is most of the time your phone number) and password needs to be just the MIN. I may try to contact USCC's data technical services to help me set this up. Just thought I would add this information. Also i saw a post on here that said the TP2 needs to dial out to #777. This is correct with all USCC smart phones and even data cards. Im just not sure were the 777 needs to go in the APN settings? if someone knows please let me know.
