Looking for something

I've been googling around for a few hours, but I'm looking for a pretty solid answer, so I figured I'd ask here. With my PSP, I am able to use a program known as PiMP Streamer to play any video files from my computer, it simply transcodes on the fly. I know I can transcode with FFMPEG, VLC and many other options, but I have little control with these applications from my phone, its simply a live stream I can "tune in to" if I'm reading everything right, whereas with Pimpstreamer I can add folders and browse my media to pick what I want to watch... is there anything like this on the PPC end of things?
