One CAB - Opera Mini v4.2/v5.0 and Gmail v2.06 - All Latest Versions

I always installed OperaMini and Gmail after a flash and hated setting up the gmail.jar and editing the selector.utf so it doesn't ask for network permissions... so I ended up trowing together a CAB with both versions of Opera and Gmail installed, also the network confirmation edit is included so I figured I could share it with this awesome forum.

Both versions of Opera have pre-set speed dial pages to ppcgeeks, xda, ppc-warez, eBay, newegg, craigslist, Mr. Movies Times, slick-deals and finally Imdb.

Opera Mini v4.2 has the black theme, extra large fonts, high res images settings set too...

I also borrowed the Opera Mini CAB from boxer112 from this thread Mini Beta 5 One Cab Install :mrgreen:

If anyone has any nicer icons dll's please post so I can change them for the diff versions.

*NOTE* CAB is currently uninstallable but I'm working on that... :scratch:
EDIT: Ok it actually is, I tried after a hard reset, I just happened to have so many
different installs one on-top the other that it didn't work. :)

gmail has a later version 2.06 which supports touchflo, can you create a cab for this newer version and have it signed, I would also include operamini 4.2 because 5 is still beta with some bugs.

Sorry, I don't. I always check my mail on-line with Mini. It's so quick, and saves battery (I think).

What do you mean by "supports touchflo"? Is there a way to add it as a tab?

How do I make a shortcut to this Gmail App with the TP2 using the touchflo? I can only find it by going to file explorer, starting java, then launching the midlet.

just install the cab from the first post, it will create a folder in start menu/programs called internet, open that folder it will be there.

i try to install it from the cab, and sprint titan shows up instead of jbed for installing. I can install it directly using jbed, but the touchflo3d doesn't recognize it as a program to add to the homepage..

He has separate cabs, as far as I saw no combined ones...

And I just posted the both versions cab in first post with no gmail.

Weird things for me, also. .cab itself worked fine, but Pocket Outlook e-mail and Opera Mobile couldn't connect while .cab was installed, whether active or not. Removed the .cab and all was back to normal.

There is nothing extra in this cab that would change anything extra on your device. It was complied for anouther cab i got off this forum. Me getting banned had nothing to do with this cab. I posted a pic in all the maddness that was going on with the unlocker for the TP2 that got me banned. I read the forum rules and I should have only got a warning. They are supposed ban you as a last resort. But w/e... :disgust:

if your still making .cabs for opera how bout a updated one with the new opera mini beta 2.
If u dont mind I like just the 2 opera versions and no gmail.

Sure, can you post the .jar? I havent herd of it. I'm currently (95% done) working on manually putting together the latest JBED package with all the .jars so I don't have to use any precompiled stuff... (with the current JBED both opera versions seem to randomly refresh pages instead of loaded the page you clicked on) ](*,)

This happens because the Opera Mini was cabbed up after the original poster had gone past the first security prompt. I had this problem the first time I cooked my public ROMs with Opera Mini. You must not use an Opera Mini CAB that has already been customized with bookmarks, settings etc. (ie. already bypassed the security prompt by the cooker/cabber), because somehow it does weird things to people's accounts and is not safe.

To the original poster, when you make the Opera Mini CAB, use a fresh unused state. ie. when the 1st security warning comes on, terminate the program and then CAB it. It will then be safe for use for other users. Otherwise you will have unpredictable things, as mentioned above.

When Opera Mini 4.2 was released, many cooks such as myself made the mistake of cooking in custom bookmarks and black skin for Opera Mini. The effect was that people would go into sites like Facebook and be automatically logged into some other guy's account! Another guy on XDA had to shut down his account because everyone using Mini was automatically logged in as him when browsing xda-developers.com..

To those of you already using these CABs, please uninstall them NOW until our friendly original poster updates them. Just want you all to be aware, and safe. This is a huge security concern unfortunately.

I am doing more testing with all the latest versions of all the apps and Jbed, to fix that issue with the accounts being signed in, and the bug were it just keeps refreshing pages... should be out in the next few days. :)

Questions regarding Opera v. IE, installing, etc.

I'm running dcd 4.1.2, and frankly don't have any intention of changing, due to the simplicity and bare bones of his build.

dcd includes IE, however, I read that a lot of users prefer Opera over IE.

I recently reflashed to 4.1.2 and also downloaded an Opera cab (possibly the wrong one; because when I went to install / extract the .cab from my SD card, all the files were extracted within the file that I thought was just the .cab).

My concerns / questions are these:

1. If I want to experiment with / try Opera, can I install it over IE or does it take the place of IE when I extract the .cab for installation?, or will I have a choice of either IE or Opera as seperate programs to switch back and forth as I choose?

2. Can someone provide the Opera .cab that doesn't automatically extract when I'm intending to extract / install it when I click the file?

3. Is there anything else I should know regarding installing / using Opera that is not common knowledge to noobs.

1. If you install Opera it will not replace IE, you will have both

I have Opera 4.2 installed and i think it has the latest jbed Java included. Running perfect on my Moto Q8 GSM.
