Re: Media remote control

i remember i used a IR remote program... it was novii... it was awesome bc i was able to controll anything w/ an IR remote sensor.

you could create any remote you wanted bc it had a learning system. to where u click on the button u wanted and click on the actual remote. and it will learn the IR command. also being able to set up the layout on the buttons. a few hundred different buttons and placed anywhere u wanted to put it. only problem was that it was never updated and the tp and tp2... doesn't have IR anymore.

Has anyone used Signal? I'm also looking for a remote but I will be too far away to use bluetooth all of the time.

The old Samsung i730 had the industrial-grade IR, and the software on it to use as a Universal Remote. I took the program and tried using it on my Mogul, but the IR was so weak you had to be within a foot or so, making it useless. The i730 worked across the room.

I have the omnia so no IR. my buddy bas a program just called remote iphone. i was hoping to have a simmiler one. he can control his media on his comper througb his wifi.

i have an omnia i910.. theres IR on it.. its the entire bottom of the phone. Ive already used it. That still doesnt change the fact that we need an app to use the ir as a remote! ive been looking for this too.

This is pretty sweet software, but can take a little know-how to get it to work via the Internet connection on ur phone... Definitely works through wifi, though.

does this operate as a controller for a tv or a computer.. from what i read its seems like it operates software on a computer.

The one on the i730 would operate anything you trained it to, and it had a lot of TV's pre-programmed in. Find someone on the i730 forum (or search) and see if someone has it. I looked in my files, but couldn't find it on my computer or phone. If this site doesn't have a i730 section, I know pdaphonehome.com has an i730/i830 section

Mobilesrc remote is pretty cool. The soft keyboard sucks and the trackpad comes across a little slow. My biggest complaint is that now I can not connect to Bluetooth Pan anymore.

They did... they never sold that well. (see the old Palm devices, the iPaqs, and even the Mogul all had IR remote control programs). Never was a great selling point. Eventually the manufacturers realized it and started to replace IR with bluetooth technology.
