Greetings. I haven't seen this posted here yet, so i thought id share what i found. This comes from xda-developers member Barguast, and its a... well, ill just post the description from his post

Hi all,

Groovefish is the predictable, unimaginative, and possibly soon-to-be-replaced project name for an application I'm developing. Groovefish will allow the most excellent Grooveshark music streaming service to be used on a Windows Mobile 6.x device.

Version 0.3.2 now available






Changes in 0.3.2

• Big rewrite of some of the code – should fix some problems, may cause others!
• Sporadic crash on exit should now be fixed.
• Searches can now be cancelled.
• Fixes a crash that sometimes occurred when scrolling the search results.
• QVGA compatibility!!

Current Features

• Search for individual songs.
• View song information including artwork, artist name, genre, etc.
• Play the song

Planned Features

• In-built playlist support.
• Fast, easily-accessible, finger-friendly UI.
• Favourite songs for fast access.

An initial release with very basic functionality will hopefully be released some time this week. At the moment I am improving the stability and performance and still need to create the in-built player. I am currently using Windows Media Player to play the stream, which requires the song to be downloaded and stored on the device. Due to the obvious piracy implications of this, the creation of the in-built player is paramount and will come before any releases.

Ive been using it on my Touch Pro running dcd's 2.16 rom, and it works very well. Its found and played every song i searched for, but it has crashed twice on me today. Relaunching the app is easy enough though. Here's the thread over at xda

i never knew of this service. surely it doesn't comply with US copyright laws?

Not quite sure. I dont know if it matters that this app only streams a song, not download. The dev mentioned that yesterday, which i forgot to post. Groovefish does not download the song, only streams it to your device. Hope its not breaking any laws, cause im really likin' this app :(

I read their about us info. Basially they have no license to stream the songs. They are hoping that record labels contact them to negotiate a fair licensing price rather than just having the songs yanked. But they insist that they will yank songs off the site if asked to do so by the copyright holder. I wouldn't be surprised if you see the available song list shrink over time.

I agree. i was a huge fan of seeqpod mobile, and when that app got pulled, i was pretty down. :( this app, although its very early in development, sure is nice if you like searching and listening to songs.

Love the concept. Love the app.. Love the website. It stops working after 1 or 2 songs.

I put it on my brand new TP2 and it don't run. Says it needs a newer version of the microsoft .net compact software. Odd since I have a new Phone. Did this happen to others? Where do I get this software?

You need to install .net cf 3.5.:

Installed net 3.5 thinger, it works. Havent had a chance to try out the app though, damn customers >.<

Make sure you guys are downloading the most up to date cab from the XDA thread. The one the OP has attached here is older.

This version is much more stable than 0.2, but there are still some bugs to be worked out. At times you will find that your search results become very abbreviated, and then some results that do come up will not play. Thanks to the "view debug screen" the developer is aware of these issues and taking all of this feedback very positively.
Once these minor issues are worked out I do believe this will be one of the greatest WM apps ever, and this developer will be very deserving of your donations.

I updated the first post with the most recent version of groovefish. I believe its .3xx Been trying to update it for a couple days now, but ppcgeeks servers have been a little goofy lately. Sorry

I agree 100% with you. As a guy who likes searching or songs, this app is wonderful. The dev is definetly deserving of more donations.

I like it but the only gripe I have is that you can only play one song from the search then have to start the search over again after the song finishes. Would be cool if it kept the results so you could just go to the next song rather than having to keep searching after every song.

Agreed. hopefully he includes that feature in upcoming releases. It works great now, but would only get better with a lil fine tuning. I uploaded the newest cab, but the app crashes instantly when opening it. anyone else having problems with todays release?

Version 0.3.2 has something seriously wrong with it. All posts on the XDA thread are having the same problem with it crashing on startup.

The debug log indicates there is a missing file. I went ahead and recompiled the cab with the missing file so that the program is able to start, but when you try to search for songs the program crashes again with many errors relating to the same file and missing commands. It appears the author is using another method or file to achieve the same task with some remnants of calls to the old file.

We shall just have to wait for version 0.3.2.1

Still loving version 0.3.1 even with its flaws.

The 0.3.2 cab has been fixed and uploaded to the first post. I tested it on my TP and its working fine now.

The fixed version of 0.3.2 works very well and I have not used Pandora since.

The developer is looking to add some features and work out a few more bugs but the program works pretty good right now.

Great program but I do have one question. When I start up the program no matter how low I have my phones volume the music is LOUD. I don't see any in program way to adjust and if I turn my phone any lower it goes completely out. Any ideas?

BTW...I'm using a TP and just recently reloaded the Sprint stock rom. Normally use Mighty but haven't reloaded this yet.

Im not 100%, but i think the developer mentioned adding volume controls to the app in upcoming releases. Until then, im afraid we're stuck with the default volume settings. ill update this thread soon as the next version is released.

Anyone else have an issue where after 2 songs it stops working? Then I can exit, go back into the program and ti works again. The only issue was that after opening and closing the app like 2 or 3 times, it completely froze, and make my TP2 run really slow. A soft reset cured everything.

I love the app, just have to watch out when using it.

huh, ive never had that issue with the most recent release. i generally use it only once a day though, for an hour or so. cant wait for the next release.

groovefish is not working in my tp2. first i had to install the last version of microsoft .net compact framework 3.5, now i can open the program but doesnt work, it gets froze. i downloaded the latest version of grooverfish too.
im thinking about to hard reset and try it again.
did somebody had problem with this program running in the tp2 and make it work?
